Ghirmay Andom is an Eritrean singer, songwriter, and composer. His music is the result of the harmonious alliance between traditional and modern music; an original and innovative artistic creation. Ghirmay sings in his native language Tigrinya, in Arabic and in English.



His art has been deeply influenced by events in his life. Born in Eritrea, forced to migrate with his family at an early age, raised in Sudanese refugee camps during the difficult years of Eritrea’s struggle for independence. Once back in Eritrea as a young boy after the country gained its independence, Ghirmay had been in a state of constant waiting for change. In 2011, when it became impossible to work and live as an artist in Eritrea, Ghirmay had to migrate yet again. In exile in Sudan during the last six years, Ghirmay has struggled to widen the scope of his art. He made various trips in Eastern Africa to collaborate with local artists in an attempt to capture an international flavor to his national music. At last, end of 2017 Ghirmay manages to take up exile in the USA.



Towards the end of the 90’s Ghirmay as a high school student was aspiring to the greatest heights of art. The following decade was a long period of dedication and hard work. When his first full album was released in 2010 thanks to The African Dream, the Eritrean music scene was taken by surprise and made him a star. In 2018 Ghirmay made his second opus with extreme sensitivity and they got thousand views on the Internet.
